Pentecost Novena 2016 | Day 9

Pentecost
[May 14th is the 9th Day of the Pentecost Novena to the Holy Spirit.]

Imagine you are one of the disciples gathered in the upper room, Acts 1:14 "All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers."

You hear something like a mighty wind.

You see something like tongues of fire.

You feel something happening within you and in the whole group.

You do something: you start to speak in ways you have never spoken before.

This is a pivotal event in the life of the disciples. The death and resurrection of Jesus were pivotal for their faith. Pentecost is pivotal for their life. Nothing will ever be the same again.

Novena to the Holy, Spirit Day 9

For the Gift of Goodness

Let us bow down in humility at the power and grandeur of the Holy Spirit. Let us worship the Holy Trinity and give glory today to the Paraclete, our Advocate.

Oh Holy Spirit, by Your power, Christ was raised from the dead to save us all. By Your grace, miracles are performed in Jesus’ name. By Your love, we are protected from evil. And so, we ask with humility and a beggar’s heart for Goodness within us.

We want to be like your Saints in heaven. Holy Spirit, renew us by your power with your Goodness that we may bring the Good News to the world.

Amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, through Christ Our Lord,

Amen.

Comments

"Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful with your love" We pray for the gifts of the holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Council, knowledge, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord (wonder).
We also have Hebrews 7:25, "Therefore He is always able to save those who approach God through Him, since He lives forever to make intercession for them."
Jesus is praying for us in heaven. Jesus prayed the infinitely perfect prayer while He suffered and died for all sinners, praying for each and everyone at every point of space and time, all at once.
The Catholic Church officially teaches in the Catechism of the Catholic Church at 2666 that, " But the one name that contains everything is the one that the Son of God received in his incarnation: JESUS. the divine name may not be spoken by human lips, but by assuming our humanity the Word of God hands it over to us and we can invoke it: "Jesus," "YHWH saves."16 The name "Jesus" contains all: God and man and the whole economy of creation and salvation. To pray "Jesus" is to invoke him and to call him within us. His name is the only one that contains the presence it signifies. Jesus is the Risen One, and whoever invokes the name of Jesus is welcoming the Son of God who loved him and who gave himself up for him."

and in 2668,"The invocation of the holy name of Jesus is the simplest way of praying always. When the holy name is repeated often by a humbly attentive heart, the prayer is not lost by heaping up empty phrases,19 but holds fast to the word and "brings forth fruit with patience"
If we note the self evident fact that when we say a person's name, we think of many details about that person and apply this to God when He thinks about HIS NAME HE CALLS HIMSELF and we can with certitude of faith conclude that God thinks about everything God IS, DOES, THINKS, throughout all time and space when He thinks HIS NAME, JESUS (John 17:11-12).Therefore Jesus is eternally thinking HIS NAME, JESUS, and praying IT for us and for all sinners at all points of space and time, all at once.
The CCC also says at 2806 "For THROUGH THE NAME (JESUS) of His Christ and the reign of His Holy Spirit, our Father accomplishes his plan of salvation, for us and for the whole world."
Therefore, let us resolutely unite our prayer with the prayer of Jesus, Jesus praying HIS Name, "JESUS" and thereby receive the Holy Spirit (CCC 2741) and let us encourage everyone to pray the Name of JESUS, with Jesus, for us, with us, in us, through us, for everyone, especially those in hell forever and ever and ever and ever and....that since God is in Christ reconciling all things, in the end those in hell will be reconciled, saved (CCC 457, "The Word became Flesh in order to save us by reconciling us with God").
Have I contradicted anything the Church has officially taught?
