Pontifical Council Publishes Guide to Confession

[N.B.] The Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization has published a pastoral guide to the Sacrament of Reconciliation as "24 Hours for the Lord", an initiative beginning today.

In his bull of indiction for the extraordinary jubilee year of mercy, His Holiness Pope Francis called upon all dioceses to offer extended times for confessions on March 4 and 5.

The pastoral guide includes the teaching of the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church on the sacrament, suggestions for preparing for the sacrament, texts from saints and popes, as well as reflections.
