The dreadful TIME Magazine (dreadful when it comes to anything about the Catholic Church) is having a poll and you should participate. From their site : The 2012 TIME 100 Poll Cast your votes for the leaders, artists, innovators, icons and heroes that you think are the most influential people in the world. Official voting ends on Friday, April 6 , and the poll winner will be included in the TIME 100 issue . The complete TIME 100 list will be chosen by our editors and revealed on TIME.com on Tuesday, April 17. Note well the language: “influential”. It does NOT say “whom you like” or “whom you agree with”. It says “influential”. Given what is going on in the USA right now, Timothy Card. Dolan, as President of the USCCB engaged on our behalf in a battle with the White House over the religious liberty and civil rights of all Americans… and making headway… is nothing if not “influential”. Card. Dolan should be on that list. If he is on that list, he’ll get some “street kred”

Heavenly Father, You lifted your dear Son from the grave and made Him a beacon of hope for all mortals. By overcoming sin and death and hell, may He take us by the hand and lead us into the land of bliss and glory where we shall enjoy forever the company of the whole heavenly host. May we trust with all our hearts in His glorious wounds by which He ransomed us for everlasting life. Blessed be the name of Jesus, now and forever. Amen.

The Annunciation is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to Mary that she would become the Theotokos (God-bearer). Despite being a virgin, Mary would miraculously conceive a child who would be called the Son of God. Gabriel told Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning “YHWH delivers”. Most of Christianity observes this event with the Feast of the Annunciation on 25 March, nine full months before Christmas. According to the Bible (Luke 1:26), the Annunciation occurred in “the sixth month” of Elizabeth's pregnancy with the child who would later become known as John the Baptist.

Merciful and loving God, you give us* this Lenten desert for our purification, for our chance to become your faithful friends. Because we are wearied by our sins and exhausted by the weight of our guilt, the devil seeks to tempt us further away from you. Let us hear his false promises with your ears and see his counterfeit prizes through your eyes. With your Word in our mouths, we reject his poisonous gifts and run to you for our salvation.
